Martin Cook's ad for Gonzo Multimedia's CDs...

This is the ad Martin Cook designed last year for promoting Gonzo's TEB three CDs on some magazines. Martin is the designer who is editing the book on the band (written by LCF in Winter 2016 and ready in  March 2017 for being published) soon out in the bookshops...

TEB book update...

Here's a brief note from Martin Cook, a talented editor and graphic designer about my 'legendary' book about the Band:

"Hi,
Have started getting the text back in the book... Will get finished by next week.
Hope that all is well.
"

So apparently here we are with it. Cross your fingers and... hope!

Yours TEB Esoteric Archivist (& "aficionado"),
Luca Chino Ferrari

Updates about Glen's book and TEB CDs...

"Spirits"
Due a different planning of the catalogue (many records by Arthur Brown and Rick Wakeman!) and some misunderstandings with Gonzo, the new TEB live album will be available just from August 18th, 2017.
Recorded at Tuxedo Club, Piacenza, on January 14th, 1989, this is a great concert in a strange day-off tour date with a rare performance of Dave Tomlin's "Lark Rise" played by a wonderful line-up - Glen Sweeney (hand drums), Mick Carter (electric guitar & effects), Lyn Dobson (flute, sax) and Ursula Smith (violin).
For pre-order please go to Gonzo Website at
http://www.gonzomultimedia.co.uk/pre-orders.html.

The book
Now finished, it contains 25 poems, 3 manifestos, aphorisms, interviews with and about Glen Sweeney, memories of Paul Minns, Dave Tomlin, Steve Pank, Morgan Fisher, Clive Kingsley, Paul Buckmaster, Ben Meredith, Carolyn Looker, Andrew King, Linda Kattan...; posters, ads, photos, some of them from the family archive.
Cover and graphics by talented Martin Cook. The book is scheduled for September 2017.

Brain Waves
The reissue of the last Ma.So. album recorded in 1993, now deleted, will be available from September 2017. It will show a brand new booklet and one bonus-track.
For pre-order please go to Gonzo Website at  http://www.gonzomultimedia.co.uk/pre-orders.html.

Other projects/ideas around
Gonzo intends to reissue that old 'strange' "Radio Session" CD made by Voiceprint in 2004 (21' only) enhanced with some live unrealised tracks. This CD is scheduled for next November.

Also, at the beginning of 2018 there's the idea to reissue the Hydrogen Jukebox CD "Prophecies" (now deleted, it seems the album circulated just in Italy...) with a brand new cover and  booklet. No unrealised tracks included, I guess.

Another interesting project could be the publication of a full concert the band played in Mantua in February, 11th 1992, one of the last gigs ever played. An Italian TEB fan, friend of mine, Flavio Poltronieri recorded the concert and he's agreed to realise it...

Still no news from Denim Bridges about the legendary Balham recording sessions (he's very busy with Reinassance on a worldwide tour), but I am optimistic about the chance to see it on CD one day...

Glen Sweeney's tribute book finished, ready to be published.

My tribute-book to the art and genius of Glen Sweeney (and the Third Ear Band) is now finished and it's ready to be published.
Talent graphic Martin Cook (who made the last three TEB's cds for Gonzo) is working on it, full of pictures and stuff about the glorious Glen & TEB's history.
Just to give you a little taste of it, here below you can read a funny short memory from rock alternative musician Morgan Fisher (who played for a short period with the TEB in 1973) that is included on the book:

"My (probably record-breakingly) short stint as synth player with the Third Ear Band included just two radio shows and one concert, in the spring of 1973, before I was whisked off on a USA tour by Mott the Hoople. So I had little time to get to know the Band personally. Paul seemed rather distant and quiet, but Mike and Glen were open, chatty and friendly from the beginning. Nobody said it, but I assumed Glen was “in charge” as he visited my house in Finchley (north London) a couple of times to discuss their musical approach with me; it was always a real pleasure to sit and have a cuppa tea and a cozy chat with him.

I was familiar with the Band’s recordings, and especially impressed that they had, two years before, made the music for (and even appeared in) Polanski’s “Macbeth.” While chatting on that subject, I asked Glen about the London premiere of the film - who was there, and how they dressed for the occasion. Were the Band expected to adhere to the usual tuxedo and black tie formula?

Glen’s answer: “Yeah, man - would you believe they insisted we dress like that? So naturally I had to do something freaky as some sort of protest, right?”

“Sure. What did you come up with?”

“I dyed me hair bright green!”

“Nice one, Glen! More tea?”

New book on Glen Sweeney almost ready!

Since the last October I'm editing with Carolyn Looker the book on Glen Sweeney's poems, lyrics, interviews, aphorisms, drawings, photos and the work is almost finished...A specific section wil have memories of Glen by some of his old friends and/or musicians who played with him as Dave Tomlin, Pete Brown, Paul Buckmaster, Lyn Dobson...

Carolyn has sent me lot of rare photos of Glen, taken in different moments of his life. One of them, in particular, shot in 1970, shows him and Carolyn with their close friend Celia Humphris, at the time singer of the fabulous Trees and wife of radio DJ Pete Drummond

Glen in Greece, 1978.

I'm very proud of this book, also because I've tried to collect all the main things written by (or about) Glen and it seems a very good tribute to his long unique career.
Also, I'm very glad the book will be printed by Gonzo Multimedia and all the design will be done by talent Martin Cook!

TEB gig in Piacenza will be published in September/October 2016.

After checking the TEB audio tape recorded on January 14th, 1989 in Piacenza, Gonzo Multimedia approved the next prodution.
Titled "Spirits", the CD will be published in September, with a cover/booklet designed by Martin Cook and the sounds engineered by John Hughes.
The booklet has been written by Luca Chino Ferrari and Francesco Paolo Paladino, who shot the original video in 1989.
The about one hour concert was played by the same line-up of "New Forecasts of the Third Ear Almanac" (Sweeney, Carter, Smith and Dobson) and it will be some great surprises for all the fans...

New TEB albums update...

When in 2009, after two tours managed and a book written about the Band, I decided to set GhettoRaga Archive my first aim was to celebrate the art of one of my favourite bands ever and honour the life of two great musicians and friends - Glen Sweeney and Paul Minns, founder of the group, sadly passed way.
Then other deaths came - Ben Cartland, Mike Marchant, Mel Davis...loosing an important part of the memory.
One of the first project I had in my mind was to realise a CD with some unrealised tracks taken from personal archives, BBC radio recordings and other old stuff. The project, titled "The Dragon Wakes", was inspired by the third TEB's album announced in 1970, recorded in 1971 but never realised (electric guitarist Denim Bridges has still all the original (wondeful!) recordings at home but he has never made anything from it (why Denny?).

Now, thanks English label GonzoMultimedia on next Spring TEB's fans shall have some recordings from the past (all the National Balkan Ensemble's recordings, some other never realised tracks, the complete concert played by the band in Sarzana in 1989, now a rare collector's item...) on two different albums with liner notes edited by me.
Here's a cover proof designed by Martin Cook who has thought to the project as a set of two similar covers with different colours:

So stay awake and... keep in touch with GhettoRaga!
