really wonderful to find your blog...there is a serious absence of information online regarding the third ear band. whatever happened to them?
ReplyDeleteHi.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment. You're right, the aim of this archive is just to inform about the band with first-hand sources and stuffs because generally journalists biographers used to repeat the same old commonplaces about it (i.e. Wikipedia or something like this...).
I've been managing the band in the Eighties and I've known very well Glen and the others... I'm still in contact with some of them... For having some news about the band and his fate you can start to read the history at the page http://ghettoraga.blogspot.com/2010/02/after-attempt-to-make-complete-list-of.html
Anyway thanks for your interest.
Cheers.
Luca
Hi Lucca!
ReplyDeleteRegarding the Top Gear session ,John Peel announces after "Druid" That the TEB Are Paul Minns Oboe,Richard Coff violin a lady called Ursula on cello and Glen Sweeney on percussion and stuff(A rough transcript.)No Ben (Shame!)
Also ,As it has been pointed out to me,The picture outside the Roundhouse, the guy next to Paul is Paul Buckmaster and not Ben Cartland.
I can only repeat, This is a wonderfull thing
you have created , Many thanks!
Regards Will.
Yes, Will, I'm wrong... About the Peel Session it's just a silly mistake, because I knew it and having the tape it's enough to listen it...
ReplyDeleteAbout the photo, you're right again, because in that right period Buckmaster was in the band... (read the page at http://ghettoraga.blogspot.com/2010/01/third-ear-band-visual-line-ups_28.html).
So, thanks. I'll correct everything...
Cheers.
Luca
The confusion about TEB's line-up in this session comes also from the official BBC Radio 1 site, that mentions Ben Cartland instead of Ursula: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/johnpeel/sessions/1960s/1969/Feb11thirdearband/
ReplyDelete...by the way, has anyone listened to these mp3s? Do they really sound better than the "unofficial" versions?
ReplyDeleteNot yet, Mirco, even because you can download the session only from USA, not Europe. But you can listen few seconds of each tracks and the sound quality seems better than the botlegs one.
